Senior Support Worker, Children's Residential Home

About the Role

Lead shifts and set the standard at Morgan's House, a brand-new children's home operated by Seren Steps Care CIC. As Senior Support Worker, you'll be the shift leader, the person staff turn to, the person children rely on, and the person who ensures outstanding care every day. You'll work closely with the Registered Manager to deliver therapeutic, child-centred care for young people aged 10–18.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the shift team, delegating tasks and managing incidents calmly
Act as key worker for allocated children, coordinating care plans
Mentor and support new staff and Support Workers on shift
Conduct shift handovers and ensure accurate record-keeping
Attend LAC reviews, PEP meetings, and multi-agency meetings
Support the Registered Manager with compliance and CIW inspection readiness
Contribute to the home's Quality of Care Review (Regulation 73)
Carry out sleep-in or waking night duties as required

Requirements

EssentialQCF Level 3 in Health & Social Care (Children & Young People) or equivalent
EssentialMinimum 2 years' experience in a residential children's home
EssentialExperience supporting children with complex emotional and behavioural needs
EssentialConfident leading a shift team and making decisions under pressure
EssentialUnderstanding of trauma-informed care and the PACE model
EssentialRegistered with Social Care Wales (or willing to register within 6 months)
EssentialFull UK driving licence (essential)
EssentialAt least 22 years of age
EssentialEnhanced DBS clearance (paid by Seren Steps)

What We Offer

£14.00/hr for 15-hour day shifts (7am–10pm) + £60 per sleep-in night
Rolling rota (e.g. 2 days on / 4 days off), pattern may vary
28 days annual leave including bank holidays
